EXSCI 100. Introduction to Exercise Science.2 Credits.
An introductory course designed for students considering a career in the broad area of exercises science. Career settings include the disciplines of exercise physiology, sport psychology, motor behavior, biomechanics, athletic training and sports medicine. Professional opportunities in the field as well as current trends in research will be presented.

EXSCI 200. Introduction to Fitness and Conditioning.3 Credits.
An introductory lab and lecture course will teach the fundamentals of basic fitness and exercise. Students will engage in fitness assessments and design of personal conditioning programs for healthy subjects.
Prerequisites: Acceptance in the exercise science major or permission of course instructor required.

EXSCI 310. Physiology of Human Movement.3 Credits.
This course applies physiological principles to human physical activities. Emphasis is on the interaction of neuromuscular, circulatory and respiratory mechanisms as affecting, and affected by, immediate exercise situation and physical training. Students will follow the generation of locomotion from skeletal muscle contractions to generation of ATP from carbohydrates, fats & proteins, then to supply of oxygen to support ATP formation, and control of blood circulation in support of oxygen and carbon dioxide transport.
Prerequisites: Take CHE 111 or CHE 102 or BIO 212 and BIO 212L.
Corequisites: Take EXSCI 310L.

EXSCI 310L. Physiology of Human Movement Lab.1 Credit.
An in-depth practice of the measurement of physiological principles and mechanisms related to human physical activities. Activities emphasize skills necessary for basic morphological through advanced exercise performance testing variables. Laboratory writing exercises focus on improving students' ability to read and comprehend scientific articles and produce scientific writing based on their own experiments and data.
Prerequisites: Take CHE 111 or CHE 102 or BIO 212 and BIO 212L.
Corequisites: Take EXSCI 310.
